Day 1: Neuschwanstein, Linderhof Palace, and Oberammergau

Your guide will pick you up at your hotel in Munich.

Start your 2-Day Tour with a drive to Neuschwanstein Castle (the inspiration for Disney Castle). First, we take the shuttle to Mary’s Bridge (Marienbrücke) for some amazing pictures, then we walk to Neuschwanstein (the fairytale castle) with a tour inside. Know more about the Swan King (Ludwig II) king of Bavaria (1864-1886) and his masterpiece Neuschwanstein Castle (was built 1869-1886). Afterwards, from the castle’s foot, we take a horse carriage to Hohenschwangau village.

(With Skip the Line service you don’t have to worry about waiting for hours to get tickets or the tour it is sold out when you arrive).

Time to grab some lunch before we head to Linderhof Palace where Ludwig lived for more than 8 years, with time to explore the formal gardens, Moorish Kiosk, and the famous Venus Grotto (at the moment the Grotto is closed for maintenance works until further notice).

Afterward, we will drive to the picturesque village of Oberammergau where is the original Passion Play in 1634 started and famous with the wood carving and House paintings, and more. In the evening, we will have a very traditional German dinner. Then overnight at Füssen hotel.

Day 2: Zugspitze and Innsbruck

Today we will drive to the highest mountain in Germany, Zugspitze, with 2962 meters (9,718 ft) above sea level. The Zugspitze lies in the Wetterstein range, a chain of limestone peaks marking the border between Austria and Germany and stretching from Ehrwald in the Tyrol through to Mittenwald in Bavaria

We will take the cable car to the top, with the breathtaking views at the sharing summit between Germany and Austria.

Then back to our vehicle, we will continue driving south-east to Innsbruck, picturesque and snazzy, on the pulse of nature and the city at the same time, that’s how Innsbruck the capital of the Alps presents itself to its visitors. It fascinates with the beauty of the nature surrounding it, its long history, and traditions that are interwoven with modern elements. Amidst the charming Old Town, a classic Austrian hybrid of Gothic and Baroque, you will find Innsbruck’s greatest tourist attraction and certainly its most characteristic landmark: The Golden Roof. Innsbruck’s Old Town is a small area of sturdy medieval houses, many attractively painted in pastel colors and supported by sloping earthquake buttresses.                                                                Afterward, we will drive back to your Munich hotel.

Neuschwanstein Castle, etc. from Munich

We only had 2 days in Munich and wanted to see as much as possible while we were there. Special Private Tours and our driver/guide David were fantastic! David picked us up in front of our hotel and drove the “scenic route” to Neuschwanstein Castle, playing tour guide, historian, and DJ along the way. He arranged for us to tour the castle without waiting in the long line, took us to Oberammergau for lunch and on to the Linderhof Castle for a full day of touring. He was a delightful conversationalist, and as a Czech native, he was very helpful in interpreting some Czech words one of our companions remembered from her childhood. Furthermore, he dropped us back at our hotel an hour later than our tour was supposed to be done, but he was very gracious about having been delayed by a downpour and offered to take us to the airport the next morning. We could not have asked for a better person to spend our day with. I highly recommend using Special Private Tours for customized trips if you are traveling in Munich.
